Sean's Teaching Philosophy

Sean offers a unique means of teaching developed over hundreds of hours of tutoring. He combines Socratic methods for comprehension and synthesis, and repetition drills for fluency and confidence.

Different students often struggle with the same key concepts, but need to learn it in different ways. Over time, he has seen the common problem points and have developed different means of explaining ideas- tailored exactly to the student.

Whether it is helping a student get caught up, or advancing them far beyond what is being taught in the classroom, this is your one stop shop for extra-curricular math education.

Services range from high school to college level, including Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, Precalculus, College Algebra, and Calculus 1 and 2.

Standardized tests can be nerve-wracking for everyone! Passing AP exams or doing well on the ACT can have big impacts on your student's future education and the price of college. So, in addition to covering the material on the tests, we will go over test-taking strategies to get the best score possible.

After booking any test preparation with me, the first thing we will do is provide a practice test of the exact same format as the test you are preparing for. This is taken on your own time and provided at no additional fee. After taking this, we will review the results to hone in on exactly where you can improve the most. All before our very first meeting!

The benefits of tutoring:

In a 2017 experiment, it was found: “for the junior who takes a mock test cold, scores within the normal range—16-28 for ACT... and then starts tutoring, a standard package of 12-16 tutoring hours usually yields 3-5 points of improvement on the ACT... Three to five points on the ACT is the difference between getting into BYU and Harvard”
